@kellymichaelanderson

My time as a freelance filmmaker has been focused in documentary and music, including music video, concert films, community-based non-profit support and feature-length documentary filmmaking. As a photographer my experience lies in concert photography, band portrait and album covers, and events ranging from national festivals to local art exhibitions and street fairs. I’ve shot for 88.9 Radio Milwaukee, Milwaukee Magazine, Milwaukee Record, Shepherd Express, Wisconsin Gazette, Pabst Theater Group, Charles Allis & Villa Terrace Art Museums, Mama Tried, and many more. In 2019, the feature-documentary about the theft and recovery of a 1715 Stradivarius violin, Plucked, premiered at Tribeca Film Festival and MKE Film Festival, on which I spent 6 years as a cinematographer, producer and assistant editor. I continue to work with many local orgs, artists, and non-profits as a freelance photographer, editor, and filmmaker. Contact kellymichaelanderson@gmail.com for inquiries!

Marketing Managaer + Marketing & Media Apprenticeship Mentor 2022 - present

Having shot documentary video and photo for local youth development non-profit Teens Grow Greens since 2019, I joined their staff in 2022 in a new role as lead educator/mentor for a new 9-month apprenticeship in media and marketing. I maintain a role as a marketing manager for the org and manage our social media and digital media content and channels, producing photo and short documentary video. In this role I am mentoring young adults in developing skills using media tools to become storytellers. Together, we have explored mobile device camera tools, DSLR photography and videography, portraiture and composition, basic video editing, podcasting, and much, much more. This role has developed my passion for educating youth to strengthen their voice and confidence in storytelling and media production.

former photo + video for @colectivocoffee

2013 - 2020, I held the in-house videographer, photographer, and social media management position for MKE-based COLECTIVO COFFEE ROASTERS, which sent me all over the world to meet and film with the men and women who grow the coffee we were sourcing. My aim with these shorts was to educate viewers about the industry, supply chain, and the people who produce their coffee through the eyes of those living in the coffee growing regions of the world. I discovered that the consumer desire for specialty-grade, organic coffee creates ever-changing demands, nearly impossible for producers to meet while facing rising climates regarding global warming, organic treatment of crop diseases, gender inequality, generation gap, and much more we cannot foresee. Unbelievable accomplishments are often met out of necessity but not without constant innovation, collaboration, and education internally and in the relationships formed across each step in the coffee supply chain. In order to truly understand a buyer and consumer’s role in this chain we must have constant movement towards long-term, working relationships with those at coffee’s origin. As Colectivo’s staff photographer I worked frequently in food-styling and architecture photography and my work has been published by Epicurious, Thrillist, Milwaukee Magazine, October, Barista Mag, and beyond. My video content has been featured by Sprudge, brewmethods.com, Milwaukee Bucks and more.
